🌱Everything we did our FIRST SPRING on the Homestead🌸

Happy first day of summer, dear friends! Wow, I thought we’d never make it 😆 ! Today’s post is a quick look back at everything we did here on the homestead for our first spring! Watching things slowly come together in the garden has reminded me so much of that scene in Cinderella when the mice are assembling her dress. “We can do it, we can do it, we can make the dress real pretty. There’s nothing to it really.”

The sense of accomplishment in seeing your visions and plans come to fruition is oh-so-satisfying. But it was so much more than even that.

Our first spring has been such an incredible mosaic of excitement and worry and joy and confusion and renewal and exhaustion . . . perhaps the richest, most influential season of our lives thus far.

Working every day to bring this clearing to life has been simultaneously life-giving and life-sucking. In these past few months, my hubby and I have learned more, labored more, and experienced more than I could have ever thought possible. We have been pushed to our limits more than a few times. It’s been like the exact opposite of a virtual life. In the end, it’s been exactly what we’ve been longing for over the past decade of suburban and skyrise life.

As for the season itself, watching our long mountain winter unfold into a most delicate spring swallowed by an electric green summer has been one of the most beautiful and miraculous things I have ever witnessed. To me, it was like the song Pi Jesu come to life. Our God is truly the ultimate composer.

This mountain homestead has stretched us in all aspects of our beings this first spring —physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually— a truly holistic journey for our little family thus far.

And so, I’ve put together several a-picture’s-worth-a-thousand-word-slideshows for you in the attempt to document both the substance and spirit of our first spring on the homestead. We’d be honored to take you through this virtual tour. So, go ahead! Step inside and take a peek around our clearing 🙂 ! Our hope is that you will find some inspiration, direction, and maybe even some solace in the photos below.
